Safety
The acceleration skid control (ASR)
The acceleration skid control (ASR) supports the driver in minimising the spinning of the drive wheels when the vehicle accelerates, which in turn minimises the risk of a sideways tail-skid at the rear of the vehicle. If the engine torque is too high, ASR can provide more comfort and greater safety when starting off – particularly on road surfaces which have variable traction or are slippery.
Stable bodyshell (construction based on ECE-R 66)
The strength of the bus‘s body is a key factor for its passive safety. Its resilience can help prevent consequences from an accident. The high strength of bus bodies from Mercedes-Benz buses are guaranteed in part by ongoing, weight-optimised annular frame members. The body’s strength is defined according to the regulation ECE-R 66. It specifies the exact "survival space" which should be guaranteed by the structural design in the event of an accident.
Comfort
The driver’s area
The cockpit has been completely redesigned. As in the cockpit of the Citaro, the driver’s work is made easier by intelligent ergonomics. All controls and instruments are clearly arranged and within easy reach.
Your driver can read or operate them wiithout having to change his seating position, and there is plenty of stowage space for personal effects. The driver is able to spend the entire working day without stress, devoting his full attention to the tasks in hand – a major contribution to road safety!
100% low-floor.
At last, no more problems with boarding and alighting. Without steps, and with three doors on the 12m solo vehicle and 4 doors on the articulated bus, the Conecto is particularly welcoming at the bus stop, the Conecto is particularly welcoming at the bus stop. A continuous low floor from front to rear ensures a rapid passenger flow. Even children and people with restricted mobility can board with ease. And drivers don’t need to worry about keeping to their tight schedule.
Quality
Quality proven 10 thousand times.
The new Conecto is based on high-volume-production vehicle components that have proved themselves in practice. Numerous assemblies come from the successful Mercedes-Benz family of city buses – for example the robust Mercedes-Benz low-floor portal axle for the drive. And to ensure you can enjoy the Conecto’s high quality for as long as possible, the vehicle is protected against corrosion in the long-term thanks to cataphoretic immersion priming.
